I did find an IR reference in the Human Interface section of the HD-18 referencingĪn ENE CIR Receiver. My device manager shows other device and under 2 entries unknown device.

When checking device manager on the dv9249us I did not find reference to an IR unit in either the Human Interface or Universal Serial Bus Controller areas. Cir stands for consumer infrared receiver and i believe ene is the manufacturer of the chip used in the receiver.

This must have been a known side effect of the upgrade process since it occurred in two different PCs and found an HP IR driver referenced to correct this problem for another model called ENE CIR Receiver Driver (sp41645.exe) and installed this on the dv9249us
